LONDON – The biggest electronic entertainment event in the world is going at The 02 Arena: it’s the London World Campus Party, known as the “Glastonbury For Geek”, like the festival of contemporary performing Arts (dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and other) that takes place near Pilton, Somerset, England.
But in London World Campus Party, the “art” in question is The Internet: 10.000 hackers, developers and gamers to inspire young people to embark on digital careers. The festival is featuring more than 500 hours of talks, debates, workshops, competitions and hackathons – some of which continue well into the night.
London mayor Boris Johnson said: ‘In the last few years, we have seen the mos t extraordinary inflorescence of tech start-ups in this city. So where better to have a fantastic campus party than here in London? Campuseros from around the world are conglomerating here in our city, sparking ideas off each other. All sorts of synergies will take place. It is going to be the place to be – a Glastonbury for geeks.’ (A.A.)
